Set up CODGuard in 5 minutes
Follow these six steps to install CODGuard and verify your first COD order. No developer needed.
- 1
Install CODGuard from the Shopify App Store
Open your CODGuard listing and click Install. Approve the requested permissions — CODGuard needs access to orders, customers, and checkout to verify and score COD orders.
- You can review every requested scope before approving.
- Installation does not change your theme or checkout until you enable a feature.
- 2
Connect your SMS provider
In Settings → Messaging, choose MSG91 or Twilio and paste your API credentials. CODGuard uses your provider account to send one-time passwords and notifications, so you keep control of sender IDs and cost.
- MSG91: add your Auth Key, Sender ID, and OTP template ID.
- Twilio: add your Account SID, Auth Token, and sending number.
- Send a test OTP to your own phone to confirm delivery.
- 3
Turn on OTP verification
Enable OTP verification so customers confirm a 4-digit code before a COD order is placed. You can apply it to all COD orders or only the ones that match your rules.
- Customize the OTP message and retry limits.
- Genuine buyers verify in seconds — fake orders drop off.
- 4
Configure your COD rules & risk thresholds
In Rules, decide what happens for each risk level. Block COD above a risk score, restrict COD by pincode or cart value, or offer a prepaid discount to nudge risky orders toward prepaid.
- Start with conservative thresholds and tighten as you learn.
- Use prepaid nudges to recover orders you'd otherwise block.
- 5
Enable customer notifications (optional)
Switch on WhatsApp and SMS automations for order confirmations, dispatch alerts, and COD payment links to reduce 'where is my order' tickets.
- Personalize templates with order details and tracking links.
- 6
Go live & watch your dashboard
Place a test order to see the full flow end to end, then go live. Track verified orders, blocked risk, OTP success rate, and revenue saved from the CODGuard dashboard.
- Check the dashboard weekly to fine-tune your rules.
